Returning to the GM Chair

It’s been nearly four years since I last sat in the Game Master’s chair but in just a couple of months I’ll be returning to the hot seat to run a new campaign – sort of.

For those that have been reading this blog of a while or subscribe to Johnn Four’s ezine, Roleplaying Tips, you might remember my last campaign, The Realms of Rylon. That campaign didn’t really end, it died on the vine and was something I discussed (along with the good points) in my Realms of Rylon – The Postmortem series. What’s nice is that I had a lot of material that I didn’t use and could be modified for another campaign, either in the same setting or in a new one – in this case I decided to use the same setting.

So what I’m doing is creating a new section of my world for the upcoming campaign – complete with tie backs to my last Realms campaign. This will allow me to leverage some of the material I already have and give the players a new yet familiar setting to game in.

I’m looking forward to it.

As an added item, here’s the initial teaser I came up with for the new campaign – an idea spun from this post at Treasure Tables.

It’s alive! The Blog that is.

For those that subscribe to of Dice and Dragons, you probably saw an email or saw a series of posts show up in your reader over the last 24 hours and already had a suspicision that something was going on.

Well, after 11 months of hiatus I’ve decided to breath some life back into my RPG blog and start writing again in this arena. For those that have been following my main blog you know that I’ve started to change focus in my life and am working at just trying to be myself and part of that is realizing that I missed the RPG community more that I thought. Ok, I missed sharing my thoughts on gaming in general as well.

So, after much thought I decided that of Dice and Dragons needed to be brought back from the brink, to that end I’ve put it on it’s own domain again, http://ofdiceanddragons.com, updated the software and gave it a minor face-lift (not sure if I like it or not yet). I’ve got some post ideas and will be posting away happily in the future.

For those that continued to stop by and pull from the materials, thanks. For those that stayed subscribed to of Dice and Dragons whether by email or RSS I hope the recent activity was welcomed.

Please, spread the word, of Dice and Dragons lives again!

At the moment the base move has been completed and I’m in the process of cleaning up all the little details that cause you to go “oops, forgot about that.” I’m sure I’ll miss a few items here and there as I go so I would ask that if you come across something please let me know but posting it in the comments below or by sending me an email at snewbury at gmail.com.
