Online Dungeon Generator

I’m sure there are few folks out there like me that every once in a while gets stuck coming up with a dungeon layout or is in need of putting one together fairly quickly.

To help us out Jamis Buck has put up an online dungeon generator which you can check out at http://www.aarg.net/~minam/dungeon.cgi.

At the site you can choose from a number of different parameters including the dungeon level and the site will create the map for you along with room descriptions, treasure and the monsters in the various rooms (you’ll have to look up the stats). Being able to put together a dungeon level with just a few clicks is a great thing to have in your “back pocket” should the occasion arise.

There is a MS Windows offline version available for download and it works in the same manner as the online version with addition – you can save the dungeons you create. The export feature saves the dungeon map as a .png and the descriptive text in a .rft file.

May your dice roll well.

Update: As mentioned in the comments the offline version is no longer available for download – in fact the online location mentioned in the above posting is also no longer working.

For those interested you can now use the online version at: http://www.rpghost.com/dungeon_gen.shtml.

For those that want to have an offline version I’ve uploaded my copy and you can download it from File Dropper at: http://www.filedropper.com/dungeongenerator.

Update #2: Based on my own testing and comments from others the online version is no longer available and the File Dropper site link is flaky at best so I’ve moved the zip file to my box.net account and you can now download it at: http://www.box.net/shared/vyfvl5ohei.

    Hi
Does anybody have the offline version of this generator? I can no longer download it. Please contact me, if you have the offline version.

Thanks for pointing out that the download is no longer available. I’ve dug out an alternate location for online use and posted a link that folks can use to download a copy at File Dropper.

    Hi
Thanks for posting, but the links you posted do not work.
The first one shows the site, but when trying to create a dungeon, there ist the same failure as with aarg.net
And the second link only leads to the main-site of filedropper. Perhaps you forgot an ending? Or do I have to sign up to use this download?
It would be great, if you could send me your version via E-Mail

    Greetings Saphir

I’ve sent along an email with the file attached – hope you’re able to use it.

If anyone else would like a copy please let me know if the links continue to have issues.

Same issue, again – strange enough that these files are not mirrored anywhere else in the web. I’d really appreciate if you could send them to me as well:

  10. Scot Newbury says:

    Hi,

Would it be possible to get a copy of the source code you have ?
I downloaded the original version a long time ago but could not find it anymore and i need to compile it again.

    regards,
    Oli

  14. Scot Newbury says:

Unfortunately I do not have the source code, just the executable for Windows, so I can’t help you out.

    Sorry.

    ~Scot

Update: I have uploaded a fresh copy of the program to filedropper and it seems to be working now.
